Choosing the Correct Breast Implant: Part 6 Don’t Get What She Has!
Even the most well informed patients have said to me “my girlfriend has X size implants and we’re the same height and weight so I think I should get the same because they look great on her.” But the operative words here are “…on her.” There are so many anatomical differences such as starting breast size and tissue, body frame, buttock size, shoulder and hip width, just to name a few. Basically, these differences make it impossible to form such a correlation between you and your friend.
Even though two women may seem similar in terms of body size, this is only a snap-shot of the overall patient. There are too many other factors (see blogs 1-5 and 7-10), that must be considered to make such a blanket statement. If you think of choosing the correct implant as the ultimate in customizing, then you’ll be open to accepting a different size or style implant than your friend. If not, then you could end up with a look that doesn’t fit you and doesn’t make you happy.
As always I work with my patients on this and all other areas so they are fully educated on the process of choosing the correct breast implant.
