Cost for Breast Augmentation
The cost of any cosmetic surgery is probably third in importance behind procedure and surgeon in the decision making process for patients. It’s a common question posted on RealSelf.com. But interestingly, despite living in a market economy, fees are less consistent than one would think. The reasons for this are multiple-location, anesthesia fees, facility fees, surgeon experience and most importantly surgeon ego. For example I recently saw a woman for an abdominoplasty. She had seen two other surgeons and the difference in price was$13,000 for the same procedure.
Breast augmentation is no different, even in the Washington, DC area where there are a significant number of plastic surgeons. Here surgeons in the Maryland area must deal with a state tax when cosmetic surgeries are performed in hospitals-forcing surgeons to do all procedures in outpatient surgery centers. Because we have all heard of undesirable outcomes that have occurred in these centers, I am a strong proponent of doing my surgeries in nothing other than an accredited surgery center. The Prince William Surgery Center and the Novant Haymarket Surgery Center, where I do surgeries, are both accredited by reputable accrediting bodies, are fully licensed by the state of Virginia, and feature state-of-the-art equipment.
So although others may charge significantly more, I feel that my total cost for Saline Breast Augmentation of $5200.00 and Silicone Breast Augmentation of $6200.00 is appropriate for the procedure. I appreciate that patients are willing to spend hard earned money for their surgery but at the same time it’s my responsibility to help patients achieve their cosmetic goals without breaking the bank.
